Starting IASO / Backup Essentials logging
If you encounter problems with IASO that you cannot fix, you should provide the support desk with logging. It is also important that you have gone through the basic troubleshooting steps. These steps can be found here.
Starting protocol logs:
To start the logs, you must first create a “protocol” folder in the location that applies to you:
- Windows 7: C:³³gramData³‘: C:³³ Manager Backup³’; * MacOS: /Library:³
- MacOS: /Library/Logs/IASO/Backup Manager/;
- *inux: /opt/IASO/var/log/.
Delete this folder again after 15 minutes or so.
Start debug logs:
- Stop the "Backup Service Controller".
- Open the config.ini file, which can be found under: C:program filesBackup Manager
- Add two lines to this file: [Logging] LoggingLevel=Debug
- Restart the service.
Collect 10 minutes of logging and then delete the two lines from the config.ini file. If you don't do this, the logging directory keeps growing. The logging is collected in the BackupFP directory. This can be found under the following location:
- Windows XP, 2003: C:Documents and Settings directory;
- Windows 7, Vista, 2008: C:/Library: C:/Library name;
- Mac OS: /Library/Logs/IASO/Backup Manager/BackupFP;
- Linux, FreeBSD: /opt/IASO/var/log/BackupFP.
