What is a Managed Firewall?
Previder's Managed Firewall is a security service for securing your organisation's network. For our Managed Firewall, we work together with Fortinet. With our managed firewall solution, we offer a complete set of security technologies to protect your organisation against cyber threats. The firewall runs in our own 100% Dutch data centres and can be used to secure various environments, such as Cloud Servers, Previder IaaS, (Managed) dedicated servers, FiberAccess connections and VPN. Thanks to this security service, you get a reliable and professional security service for your IT infrastructure. The Managed Firewall service is available as firewall-as-a-service on three platforms. Check out the three options below.
De voordelen
Previder offers a robust and redundant managed firewall platform hosted in our own data centres. Dedicated VDOM (Premium) or shared VDOM (Standard and Advanced) can be purchased.
Managed Firewall VM is a FortiGate VM firewall that is installed on Previder's Premium Cloud environment. There are three different types to choose from.
Managed Firewall Appliance consists of two physical FortiGate appliances that are optionally placed in one or more Previder data centres for optimal redundancy.
Setup & configuration Managed Firewall
We offer our managed firewall in the above three flavours. After initial set-up, management can take place in two ways: fully managed by Previder or by the customer himself via a management interface. In this second option, Previder support can be enabled. Below are diagrams of the configuration of each of these three options.
Managed Firewall Shared Platform
The diagram below shows the configuration at Managed Firewall Shared Platform. Within this Managed Firewall option, there are three options; Standard, Advanced and Premium. Shared platform firewall is distinguished by its cost-effective nature. The sharing of resources enables an advantageous pricing structure. However, the shared resources model does have a small impact on maximum performance. Thanks to the hybrid/dedicated infrastructure, this type allows you to benefit from proprietary hardware within shared platform firewall.
Managed Firewall Virtual Machine (VM)
The diagram below shows the configuration at Managed Firewall Virtual Machine (VM), placed on the Premium Cloud platform distributed across multiple data centres. Virtual machine firewall is a flexible solution. Unlike shared platform firewall, virtual machine firewall uses a cloud/hybrid infrastructure. This allows it to take advantage of the scalability and flexibility of the cloud. The client infrastructure is cloud-based, eliminating the need for proprietary hardware.
Managed Firewall Appliance 1
With appliance type 1 managed firewall, you benefit from optimal performance and use your own hardware thanks to the hybrid/dedicated infrastructure. The diagram below shows the Managed Firewall Appliance configuration, consisting of two physical firewalls located in one of our data centres.

Also with appliance type 2 managed firewall, you benefit from optimal performance and use your own hardware thanks to the hybrid/dedicated infrastructure. The diagram below shows the Managed Firewall Appliance configuration, consisting of two physical firewalls distributed across two data centres.
