Moving to a hosted environment

After moving to its current headquarters in Enschede, RJ Safety & Security decided to replace its traditional ICT with a hosted environment. The new solution was provided by Previder. The strict security of Previder's data centre was immediately entrusted to the experts at RJ Safety & Security. Although RJ Safety & Security “only” had around 20 workstations (now there are more than 50!), the switch to a hosted environment from Previder was already obvious at the time. All the more so because the chosen solution – a combination of standard hosting and the necessary customisation – offers not only security and reliability, but also plenty of scope for the intensive data and telephone traffic that is inherent to RJ Safety & Security's activities.

In addition, since the switch to Previder's data centre, the company has been able to offer its customers advanced video surveillance services. For “the new security”, “smart” cameras are used that can distinguish between animals and people, for example. The realisation of the video & service centre required for this proactive surveillance was made possible in part by the technology already present in the data centre.

Finally: what does the financial director actually have to do with ICT? Arjen Lammersen laughs: ‘I have always had an affinity with ICT; it has interested me for years and I like to follow everything that happens in this field. But of course, I am no expert. That is why, as an organisation, we have deliberately chosen to have our own ICT specialist in-house. And for specific questions, we regularly call on Previder as a knowledge partner.’
