Huuskes' digital challenge

Huuskes makes great use of technology to stay ahead of the competition, such as pick-to-light in order picking, automated production systems and customer-friendly ordering portals. All these digital systems make Huuskes smarter...but also more complex. This is because the technologies used all have their own user interfaces, work on their own devices and they exchange data among themselves. Furthermore, as Huuskes has grown, the production volume has increased considerably. Production is active for longer and longer periods, so there are only short maintenance windows. "We can no longer afford to go down," says Hans Hummel, ICT manager at Huuskes. "IT at Huuskes is challenging due to short lead times of orders and deliveries, fast response times needed in case of calamities, short maintenance windows and great diversity of applications."
