Predictable costs
Joop Schoppers, team leader Informatisering & Automatisering (I&A) at De Woonplaats, explains that the housing corporation used to buy its hardware itself: "After a few years it would be written off and we would have to replace it. We wanted to get rid of that. We no longer wanted to own our ICT ourselves." Previder offered the solution with the Previder IaaS platform. "We now receive a monthly invoice. Pricing is based on usage. If we deploy machines, we don't pay for them. If we deploy additional machines, we start paying for them. We also no longer have separate charges for things like power supply, cooling and security. In short, costs are flexible and more predictable."
Unburdening
"In addition to a clear cost structure, Previder has done a good job of meeting the desired unburdening requirements," says Schoppers. "We have a reliable environment with which we are always assured of state-of-the-art technology. Many management tasks we did ourselves in the past are now taken care of by Previder. Furthermore, we no longer have to worry about backups, antivirus and other aspects of security. Previder has important certifications in that area, which is reassuring."

Right the first time
Previder was selected through a tender process. "The infrastructure is the foundation of our operations, so we didn't take any chances. Last year, we transferred all the functionality of our previous hardware one-to-one to Previder's platform. That took some doing, but it all went well. We realised the entire conversion - after thorough preparation - in one weekend and everything worked immediately. The biggest compliment is that many of our users didn't notice anything on the following Monday. The only really noticeable difference was a considerable performance improvement."}
