Project manager Maarten Hassink explains that the company name “CTA Consulting” was chosen quite deliberately: "CTA stands for Computer Applications in Automotive. But more important is the term Consulting. We do more than develop and deliver software. We also find it important that our customers can use our product in the best possible way. We spend a lot of time and attention on that. The i/Motion Software is used in all sections of the automotive industry. Our customers include big names like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But our software is also available for the local garage. Thanks to its modular structure and the way we have set it up, it is all extremely flexible. Each user can do exactly what he or she wants with it."
The big step
Around 2001, CTA Consulting took the big step towards a hosted customer environment in a data centre. That was still really in the early days. Previder was then one of the first providers to already offer colocation. That's where we started experimenting, and with success. Today, all software for our customers is hosted centrally at Previder, in a rack in which we have put our own equipment. This is also attractive for our customers, because this way they don't have to invest in expensive hardware themselves."

Clear division of roles between Previder and CTA Consulting
The strength of the collaboration between Previder and CTA Consulting lies in a clear division of roles, according to Hassink: "We have to ensure that our machines and applications are running, Previder ensures the continuity of the power supply and the connection with the outside world. Because our roles are so clearly separated, we only need each other in case of emergencies. And that has never happened in all these years. We do our thing and they do their thing, and apparently we both do it well."
Reassuring proactive attitude
Maarten Hassink praises Previder's alert and proactive attitude: "When they notice something in our rack that they think might be wrong, they give us a call. What I also like is that we can simply take customers to the data centre to show them: look, this is where your data is. That is a factor that will become even more important in the future, because these days it sometimes seems as if data is scattered all over the world. Such a visit can then be very reassuring."
