Berla Lighting: a lighting on IT

Berla Lighting, a renowned expert in customised LED lighting and lighting advice since 1930, was initially based in Goirle, but moved to its current location in 2017 and expanded its operations to include multiple warehouses: this called for a tight IT set-up. At that time, the team consisted of seven members, each contributing to different tasks and responsibilities as the company continued to grow. Alex Smekens is general manager of the lighting expert and plays a crucial role in managing the company.

"Berla Lighting provides turnkey luminaires, while customised lighting solutions are made in-house. The team specialises in making customised LED strips and providing bespoke cabinet lighting for prominent retail chains and shop-in-shops." Explains Alex. ‘To improve efficiency and optimise the technological infrastructure, we decided to look for a reliable IT party in the region.’

After a thorough evaluation of several potential partners, Berla Lighting finally chose Global-e, which is now part of Previder. Technical implementation

Before the implementation of Microsoft 365 and hence SharePoint, a meeting was convened with both organisations to conduct an ICT quick scan. The scan assessed the existing network infrastructure, including file servers and mailboxes, to produce an accurate proposal for the current situation. Based on the scan results, a comprehensive offer was developed with Microsoft 365 combined with a firewall and switch solution.

The collaboration between Berla Lighting and Previder took an important step forward with the migration of their IT systems. Throughout the process, Previder's engineers provided direct and efficient communication, ensuring a seamless transition. The ability to adapt quickly and maintain service continuity was paramount. The proximity of the two companies meant that any issues, such as the procurement of laptops during emergencies, could be resolved quickly and effectively.

Successful telephony integration

Meanwhile, Previder has successfully and seamlessly integrated Microsoft Teams for telephony into the existing IT infrastructure. The Teams application is now being used not only in the office; Teams-certified hardware and intercoms have also been installed in the warehouse to enable mobile working and constant reachability.

This implementation, combined with a new fibre-optic internet connection, ensures Berla Lighting's reachability via Microsoft's ultimate collaboration platform. This ensures seamless integration with other Microsoft applications and services, such as Exchange Online and SharePoint Online.
